Essential Viewing Guide for CMJ 2009

With close to a billion artists (okay, it’s more like 1,200) the CMJ Music Festival in New York City is one of the largest fall festivals. If you plan on attending the five day festival which starts today, you’re going to need some help picking out the can’t miss shows.

Lucky for all of us, Consequence of Sound has released an excellent guide to point you in the direction of the some of the best acts. In their words:

We’re going to break it down (and possibly build it up, maybe) for you. The focus? Not on which acts you need to check out — because that would take away from the whole experience of “discovering — but rather an easy-to-define set of parameters.

You can’t go wrong following their picks which include local bands, British artists, and the big acts that you should definitely catch. Check out their guide right here.

Born during a sweaty, backstage, Bonnaroo downpour, the Chief Festival Junkie's mission in life is to dance, write, and travel to every great festival that this wide world has to offer. While his identity remains a mystery, you may have already met him, probably when he helped himself to your party favors.
