The Harmony Festival, which has been promoting wellness and tunes since 1978, announced today that Harmony will be taking 2012 off so that they can “re-envision and reorganize.” This was to be their 34th year.
From the organizers of Harmony Festival:
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that we will not be producing a Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, CA in June 2012, but instead taking the time to re-envision and reorganize, to potentially produce the Harmony Festival in the future.
The festival’s full name was the Health & Harmony Festival. Not just a music festival, Harmony also focused on art, ecology, healthy living, and spirituality. Unlike most festival cancellation announcements, Harmony has very concrete reasons for the postponment which they listed as “various economic challenges of 2011 Festival, including the down economic climate, ticket counterfeiting, bad weather leading up to the festival, age restrictions on our nighttime events imposed by the fairgrounds facility, and various other factors led to this unavoidable decision.”
The big question now is what will happen to the Harmony Festival in 2013? Organizers say that they were are working on ways to “reorganize the company and the possibility of creating Harmony Festivals in the coming years,” which doesn’t exactly give the warm fuzzies to the continuation of the festival. There’s also a newly created community blog where fans can share their ideas and give feedback.
