It came out a in the San Diego Tribune that Street Scene, the biggest music festival in San Diego, was flat broke and probably wouldn’t happen this year. The founder, Rob Hagey, owes around 2.8 million to creditors. His big quote in the paper:
“Everything you’ll ask me,” Hagey said, “(my answer) is ‘no comment.’ ”
The article (and Rob Hagey) are careful to not claim outright that festival is cancelled, but the future certainly appears dreary. For the record, this is the fourth festival that our staff has attended that has been put on hiatus for 2010.
