The Treefort Music Festival (#50) makes its 2013 debut on The MFJ 50.

Welcome the October edition of The MFJ 50, our monthly rundown of the most popular festivals on this website. This month sees the return of the festival heavy hitters like Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and Lollapalooza, as their 2013 editions climb back to the top of the list. Also filling up The MFJ 50 are winter cruise festivals. For more info on sailing the seas aboard a festival yacht, check out this article where we exhaustively run down your options.

#1 Spot: Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has a meltdown. Voodoo swaps out the pop punk band for the decidedly un-pop Metallica.

#7 Spot: Any festival that offers wrestling in its lineup is okay by us.

#9, 10, 22, 28, 30 Spots: They’re baaaack. The big 5 festivals return in their 2013 incarnations to once again dominate The MFJ 50.

#15 Spot: While all those chumps up north are sticking out snowstorms, the Sun and Sand Festival will be relaxing on the beach with music and movies.

#19 Spot: I’m having a tough time justifying taking a music festival cruise vacation when I’ve been on a music festival vacation for most of the year.

#22 Spot: Bonnaroo 2013. ‘Nuff said.

#26 Spot: When you throw a music festival during Halloween, we’re expecting some kick-ass costumes. Moogfest does not disappoint. Check out their costume contest. Dude has a giant eyeball for a head.

#33 Spot: Country Thunder Arizona comes out with a lineup this week, pardner.

#35 Spot: New festival alert! Future Sound Music Festival is coming this May to the Midwest and bringing a bunch of EDM artists along for the ride.

#42 Spot: So apparently Electric Elephant is like this massive beach festival held in Croatia — and it’s coming back for 2013. Radical.

#44 Spot: Any excuse to head back to Montreal next year is all the excuse I need.

#49 Spot: First time in The MFJ 50 history that we’ve had the same festival, but two different years. Dang. Austin City Limits is hella popular.
